Sweet Home NC Bakery is a second-generation family business. The first generation originated in Knoxville, Tennessee, as Delicately Delicious Bakery. Founder Wanda Jenkins considered that business her baby and handled it as such. Her great love and care was evident in every bite of her mouth-watering baked goods. Delicately Delicious was a wholesale bakery and supplied several stores in the Knoxville area including the popular Kroger grocery stores. Once can only imagine all the customers walking around in the store waiting for her products to be delivered. Some playfully suggested that RustyRolls (yeast rolls) must have some addictive ingredient because people seemed never to get enough. But you know how it is, right? Who can ever get enough of a homemade dinner roll? Especially when that dinner roll is equally good at breakfast and lunch! In fact, RustyRolls became so popular that Ms. Jenkins devoted most of her time to making them and many other Delicately Delicious offerings were only made-to-order. Ms. Jenkins continued the bakery for eight years before she baked her way into questionable health and finally closed. She later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to be with her daughter. Fortunately for all of you, she has passed the torch and skillful, loving hands are still behind the scenes at Sweet Home NC Bakery. As the saying goes, these apples have not fallen far from the tree. Every bite is evidence of the same love and care that made these products favorites years ago. And as one might expect with a new generation there are new babies being born into the family. LisaLoops are now getting the attention they deserve. Bursting with buttery cinnamon flavor topped off with sweet icing, they have been reborn as the new favorite and rumored to be the best cinnamon roll in the Charlotte area. And much to the surprise of many, Sweet Home NC Bakery cookies are developing a following to rival the LisaLoops and the RustyRolls. Ms. Jenkins is still around keeping a watchful eye and recently said, “I never knew people liked cookies so much.” One customer came in asking for that “wicked Chocolate Chip cookie.” Somebody brought it to a function she attended. She tasted it and was hooked, so she had to get some more. And so it goes with second-generation baking. The best just keeps getting better. Come on over to Sweet Home NC Bakery and see for yourself. They’re happy to give you a free sample. Just ask. But be warned… one bite and you too will be making frequent visits back home to Sweet Home NC Bakery.
